Dan Wimble Wedding Photographer Website Design
Dan Wimble Photography
Dynamic WordPress website designed and built for award winning wedding photographer
Launch SiteProject Overview
Dan Wimble is an award-winning photographer known for his beautiful images captured in a modern, natural style with an editorial edge. He’s also a very savvy guy who built his previous WordPress website on his own. So I had the unique pleasure of working with someone who knew the technology and the lingo. We immediately saw eye to eye on the vision for the website. The goal was to keep it simple and clean, focusing on the photos and encouraging prospective clients to reach out to him. Extraneous elements were kept to a minimum, and we played up the typography to capture the viewer’s attention and guide them through the site. It’s all about the details, like the subtle texture in the background which help the photos pop off the page, and giving content room to breathe for maximum impact. In terms of content management, custom post types were created for all dynamic content, including wedding gallery posts, reviews, and FAQ’s. Even though Dan has the skills to edit the site himself, updating the website should be as quick and easy as possible, so Dan can focus on growing his business.
Project Highlights
Animated off canvas menu
To keep the focus on the photos, I created a responsive animated off canvas menu. It uses the native WordPress menu, so it can be quickly edited without any coding knowledge. The menu slides in smoothly from the side, dimming the page content. The menu items are spaced perfectly to maximize the vertical space on any device, and there's a subtle animated underline animation when you hover over an item.
Custom post type for quickly adding wedding galleries
When you're in the service business, time is money. To make sure Dan can focus on capturing memories instead of updating the website, I created a custom post type for wedding galleries. Here the key information is collected, which is then dynamically displayed throughout the site. Once the gallery photos are uploaded, a new wedding post can be created in just a couple minutes.
Conditional Testimonials & Reviews
A custom CPT was also created for customer reviews. To make it even easier, conditional programming was added to give Dan the ability to display the review exactly where he wants to in just a flick of a toggle switch. In seconds he can choose whether he wants to display the testimonial on the homepage slider, on the Kind Words page, or both. If he's not ready to post the review, or wants to hide an old one, he can simply turn both toggles off.
