Associates in Human Development Counseling’s previous website had definitely seen better days. What started out as an ambitious attempt to build and manage their own online presence had become dated, hard to update, and not responsive. I knew I could help address all of those issues. We worked together to develop a streamlined and modern website that highlights their comprehensive services, attracts new patients, and is built on the WordPress platform with Elementor, to allow them to easily manage their content.
The initial concept started out as a one-page website. With limited content, it made sense to keep it all focused in one place, with a navigation that scrolls smoothly to each section, set to be full page to maximize the visual impact. Once we had that in place, AHDC decided to expand their Services content, creating individual pages for each. This was a smart move for organic SEO, but also provided more valuable content to patients – a real win-win.
Project Highlights
Custom Google Maps Styling
The integrated map was a critical piece of the website, knowing first-time patients would utilize it to find their way to AHDC's office. While most people are familiar with the UI of Google maps, we want to simplify it even further by stripping away unnecessary geographical details in the map. We adjusted colors to tie into the design of the site, and highlighted area landmarks to make it easier to find AHDC's location.
Custom Elementor Theme
AHDC wanted to be able to easily edit the site content on their own. To facilitate that, I built the theme using Elementor, one of the most user-friendly builders. To ensure it still ran lean, I built the site on the barebones "Hello" theme, ensuring that only the components, styling, and functionality that we needed was used. Coupled with a few short training videos, ADHC was up and running managing the site in no time.
Animated Service Boxes
The website may be simple, but I still needed to find ways to add a little fun to the function. One way I did that was with animated boxes that highlight the services AHDC offers. The boxes light up when you hover over them, and with a little CSS animation, the chevron pattern in the top bar not only changes to red, but animates smoothly from left to right with easing.
